Quang Nam’s tourism village pursues green tourism

A green tourism week was launched in Triem Tay community-based tourism village, a major destination in the central province of Quang Nam, on June 27 with an aim to raise public awareness of ecological environment protection.

Quang Nam (VNA) – A green tourism week was launchedin Triem Tay community-based tourism village, a major destination in thecentral province of Quang Nam, on June 27 with an aim to raise public awarenessof ecological environment protection.

A project launched in 2015 has given the Triem Taycommunity-based tourism village a facelift, helping it earn the certificate “ASEANCommunity-based Tourism 2017-2019” in March 2017. Thanks to funding from theInternational Labour Organisation (ILO), UNESCO and local budget, manyfacilities such as community cultural house, piers and reception houses atTriem Tay wharf have been built over the past three years.

Ancient houses in the village are preserved, whileresidents’ homes have been repaired and upgraded and roads and dykes built.

Under the project, local residents have been involved inselecting outstanding local features and developing them into tourism sites,such as the Triem Tay orchard, the traditional mat weaving hamlet, the ancienthouses of Mr Pho Ba and Mr Nghe Phung, and the uninhabited Triem Tay islet.

Triem Tay village is located near the well-known Hoi AnWorld Heritage Site and surrounded by several tourist attractions, such as KimBong wood carving and Phuoc Kieu bronze casting villages.

It takes about 10 minutes to go to Triem Tay village fromThanh Ha pottery village by boats or just 5 minutes from Cam Kim and Kim Bongcarpentry village (Hoi An city) by roads. It is an ideal place for walking,sailing, flying kites, and trying hands at weaving sedge mats and plantingvegetables.

More than 30 households voluntarily set up their ownorganisation called Triem Tay agricultural cooperative, including 7 servicegroups of food, art performances, gardening, sailing, craft village,accommodation and tour guide.

Last year, the village welcomed nearly 10,000 visitors.-VNA
