The northern province of Quang Ninh will not adjust local socio-economic development targets despite severe property and economic damage from the recent historical floods, especially for the coal and tourism sectors, a local official has confirmed.  Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Long has set a number of key tasks to maintain the 2015 socio-economic growth such as developing production in sectors that were not seriously damaged by floods and increasing local gross domestic product (GDP) and budget collection.  Simultaneously, the province will help businesses overcome difficulties and focus on managing growing budget collection and expense.
Local authorities will concentrate on disbursing investment capital to expedite the implementation of major projects while improving administrative reform, increasing local competitiveness and intensifying inspections of the operation of public administrative centres at the grassroots level.  The locality is continuing to address the flood consequences and improve the efficiency of managing education, health, social safety and security issues.  Long revealed that local socio-economic development in the first eight months of this year was stable thanks to the support of the Party Central Committee, people and businesses.
The industrial, agricultural and tourism production value fulfilled the set yearly targets. Particularly, the number of tourists to Quang Ninh is estimated at 6.167 million, a year-on-year rise of 8 percent and fulfilling 80.1 percent of the annual target.  The province collected over 21.9 trillion VND (963.6 million USD) to the State budget, equivalent to 60 percent of the yearly estimate.  The historical floods on July 25 and August 5 this year caused local economic losses of 2.7 trillion VND (118.8 million USD).-VNA
