Quang Ninh (VNA)🉐 – The Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration (VMHA) on August 11 held a working session with the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee to strengthen forecasting, warning, and public guidance on the use of weather information in the northeastern coastal province.
VMHA officials acknowledged that while Quang Ninh province’s weather forecasting and warning have improved in recent years, increasingly unpredictable extreme weather events require significant upgrades to observation, forecasting, and warning capabilities. The agency has proposed installing one to two additional wind and rain monitoring stations in Ha Long Bay, or temporarily relocating a mobile X-band radar unit to enhance real-time tracking of thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy rains, and lightning. In the immediate term, plans include deploying an X-band weather radar, three automatic weather stations in Bai Chay, Cua Ong, and Tuan Chau, and five sets of onboard weather sensors for tourist boats to provide minute-by-minute data on wind, pressure, temperature, and humidity.
