Rain-triggered landslide kills seven people in Indonesia
Seven people have been killed and two houses collapsed following a landslide triggered by torrential rains on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, local authorities said on October 1.

Jakarta (VNA) – Seven people have been killed andtwo houses collapsed following a landslide triggered by torrential rains on theIndonesian island of Sumatra, local authorities said on October 1.
In Padang Pariaman district, seven bodies were pulled out ofthe mud on September 29, while another person was rescued alive but injured.
All victims have been found after heavy equipment wasdeployed by rescue forces to the site, said local disaster mitigation agencyofficial Rumainur.
Authorities warned residents to stay vigilant because heavyrains in the area will continue until October 2.
More than 300 houses and 80ha of rice fields in PadangPariaman have been inundated. Strong winds also damaged houses, kiosks andvehicles, and knocked down trees, killing one person and injuring four others.
In the West Sumatran provincial capital Padang, more than400 people have been evacuated after heavy rain caused flooding in the city.
Fatal landslides and flash floods are common acrossIndonesia during the rainy season, which started in September in Sumatra.
