Hanoi (VNA) - The dailyreference exchange rate on August 17 was adjusted down 2 VND to 22,689 VND perUSD from the previous day.

With the current trading band of /- 3percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,369VND/USD and the floor rate 22,009 VND/USD.

The opening hour rates at commercial banks sawlittle change from August 16, with Vietcombank and Techcombank maintaining thesame rates as on the previous day while BIDV adjusted its rates up.

Vietcombank kept both rates unchanged forthe third consecutive day at 23,270 VND/USD (buying) and 23,350 VND/USD(selling).

Techcombank also maintained both rates unchanged for three straight days at23,250 VND/USD (buying) and 23,350 VND/USD (selling).

The rates at BIDV were raised by 5 VND fromthe previous day to 23,270 VND/USD (buying) and 23,350 VND/USD (selling).

The daily reference exchange rate opened this week (from August 13 to 17) goingup and stayed unchanged on the next day. On Wednesday the rate was adjusteddown and then the trend was reversed on Thursday, before going down today.-VNA
