Reference exchange rate starts week with a hike

Hanoi (VNA) – The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily referenceexchange rate at 22,558 VND/USD on May 7, up 6 VND from the last working day oflast week (May 4).

With the current trading band of  +/-3 percent, the ceiling rate appliedto commercial banks during the day is 23,251 VND/USD and the floor rate 21,807VND/USD.

The opening hour rates at major commercial banks stayed unchanged from May 4.

The greenback is being bought at 22,735 VND/USD and sold at 22,805VND/USD at Vietcombank, BIDV and Vietinbank.

Last week, the reference exchange rate was adjusted up for twoconsecutive days following the four-day holiday from April 28 to May 1. It wasrevised down on the last day of the week.

The rates listed at commercial banks saw only slight fluctuations duringthe week. -VNA
