Resolution on Hanoi’s development reviewed

Hanoi (VNA) – Secretaryof the Hanoi municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai gave a number ofdirections during a conference held in Hanoi on April ​7 to review the five-yearimplementation of the 11th Politburo’s Resolution on orientationsand tasks for the capital city’s 2011-2020 development.

Over the past five years, Hanoi’seconomy has expanded with improved competitiveness and quality growth. Thecapital city has led the country in the construction of new-style rural areas.

Urban management and developmenthas also improved, evidenced by upgraded infrastructure and better environmentprotection.

Secretary of the Gia Lam districtParty Committee Nguyen Huy Viet urged the municipal authorities to take cautionwhen allowing the construction of high-rise buildings in the inner city becausetraffic congestion is growing during peak hours.

He suggested transforming oldapartment buildings into cultural houses, schools and parking areas.

Meanwhile, Secretary of theoutlying Dan Phuong district Party Committee Nguyen Tat Thang raised concernthat macro management of urban planning implementation is not effective, and  related administrative procedures arecumbersome, which showed the Law on the Capital City has not been enforcedeffectively.

Secretary of the outlying ThanhTri district Party Committee Tran Van Khuong urged more drastic actions totreat wastewater discharged into rivers.

Concluding the event, Haicredited the resolution with promoting the city’s socio-economic development,national defence-security, social security and safety.

At the same time, the businesscommunity still complain about the business environment in the city, he said,urging the entire political system to take synchronous actions to issuemechanisms and policies conducive to business development and investment.  

On the occasion, the municipalauthorities laid out seven key groups of tasks for the city between now and2020.

They submitted to the Politburo andcentral agencies proposals on a number of specific mechanisms and policies forHanoi and resources support to complete major projects in the city.-VNA
