Roadshows to celebrate 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Australia partnership

Vietnam and Australia have great potential to expand cooperation in a range of sectors, especially agriculture and education, said Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski.

HCM City (VNS/VNA) - Vietnam and Australia have great potential toexpand cooperation in a range of sectors, especially agriculture and education,said Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski.

The ambassador was speaking at an event on March 27 in Hanoi, which wasorganised to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnamand Australia.

The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) is organising tworoadshows in localities across Vietnam, including Hanoi, Hue, Da Nang in Marchand Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang and Can Tho in September.

The roadshows will expand opportunities for Australian and Vietnamese partnersin agrifood and education sectors to discuss commercial partnerships, accordingto Goledzinowski.

“By unlocking new opportunities in education and agrifood, the events will alsocreate new partnerships and collaborations that will benefit both countries.”

Vietnam has been one of Australia’s fastest-growing trading partners in recentyears. Two-way trade between Vietnam and Australia grew 27% last year to A$23.5billion (US$15.71 billion).

Australia is Vietnam’s seventh largest trading partner while Vietnam isAustralia’s 10th largest trading partner.

The two countries enjoy a strong, expansive, and enduring partnership inagriculture and education sectors.

The two-way trade in agriculture, fisheries and forestry products surpass theimpressive milestone of 6 billion AUD (4 billion USD) for the first time lastyear.

As for the education sector, Vietnam is Australia’s fifth largest source marketof international students with 27,000 student enrolments and over 8,000Vietnamese undertaking an Australian qualification in Vietnam.

There are 300 training programmes, which include articulation andjoint-training programmes between Australian and Vietnamese institutions.

More than 80,000 Vietnamese alumni who graduated from Australian education institutionsare currently working in Vietnam./.
