RoK increases banana imports from Vietnamese market

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam was up the sixth largest supplier of bananas tothe Republic of Korea (RoK) during the first five months of the year, accordingto the Korea International Trade Association (KITA).

 The country exported 2,900 tonnes ofbanana worth 2.3 million USD to the market, an annual increase of 13.6 percentin volume and 48.3 percent in value, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) citied the KITA’sfigures.

The RoK imported a total of 155,300 tonnes ofbananas valued at 131.5 million USD throughout the reviewed period, up 3.4percent in volume and 8 percent in value year on year, according to the association.

Bananas remain a popular fruit in the RoK, although they must beimported due to unfavourable local farming conditions./.
