RoK man shot dead in Philippines

A national of the Republic of Korea (RoK) was found shot to death in the Philippines’ resort province of Cebu, the RoK foreign ministry said on May 21.

– A national of the Republic of Korea(RoK) was found shot to death in the Philippines’ resort province of Cebu, theRoK foreign ministry said on May 21.

The victim was said to be a man in his 40s. His body wasdiscovered in a house in Lapu-Lapu City on the afternoon of May 20 after a neighbour,who reportedly sensed a foul odour from the house, reported the case to thepolice.

The time of death was estimated to be between two and threedays prior to the reporting.

RoK consular officers have been sent to the scene to jointhe Filipino police's investigation, while 3 forensic experts from the RoKNational Police Agency will also arrive soon.

If the case is concluded as murder, the victim will be thefirst RoK citizen killed in the Philippines this year.

The number of RoK nationals killed in the Southeast Asiancountry was 11 in 2015 and 9 in 2016.-VNA
