Seminar helps boost Vietnam - India e-commerce cooperation

New Delhi (VNA) – Vietnam and India have taken a significant step forward in strengthening cross-border e-commerce cooperation through a seminar he✱ld in Noida city, India, on April 1 with the participation of nearly 100 business representatives and experts from both nations.

The seminar, titled “Vietnam - India Collaboration on Cross-border E-commerce,” was jointly organised by the E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam Trade Office in India, and several prominent Indian trade and industry organisations.

Vietnam’s e-commerce market is witnessing impressive growth, exceeding 25 billion USD in 2024 and it is expected to reach 40 billion USD in the next five years, heard the seminar. Meanwhile, India’s e-commerce sector is projected to surpass 200 billion USD, solidifying its status as an e-commerce powerhouse in Asia.
Gaurav Gupta, Founder President of the Global Trade and Technology Council of India (GTTCI), highlighted the pivotal role of Indian technology in fostering e-commerce collaboration with Vietnam, pointing to initiatives such as Digital India and Make in India as strong pillars for this partnership. Participating experts looked into both opportunities and challenges for Vietnam-India e-commerce cooperation. Apart from accessing expansive markets and lowering transaction costs, businesses must overcome legal, tariff, and shipping barriers, they said./.
