Ninh Binh (VNA) – A seminar discussing ways to develop the valuechain for agricultural products was held in northern Ninh Binh province onOctober 14 by the the Vietnam Co-operative Alliance in collaboration with Germany'sFriedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF).
The event aimed to share experience in developing a co-operative model inassociation with value chains, promote efforts to boost the export ofagricultural products to the global market, and identify opportunities andchallenges faced by the co-operative sector when participating in the valuechains.
Nguyen Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Co-operative Alliance, expressedhope that the occasion will provide an ideal forum in which co-operatives cancome together and share difficulties when joining the value chain, in additionto making useful recommendations for the co-operative area.
Adreas Stoffers, Country Director of FNF in Vietnam, expressed his delight atthe success of Vietnamese co-operatives in recent years, adding that they willmake a significant contribution to helping local farm produce meet exportrequirements when joining the international value chain.
At the seminar, participants discussed how to boost production towards valuechains, opportunities for Vietnam’s farm produce export and the application ofdigital platforms in developing the value chain for farm produce, and proposedsolutions to promote building and developing value chains for co-operatives.
By June this year, there had been a total of 25,282 co-operatives nationwide,with agricultural co-operatives accounting for 64 percent of the figure./.
