Six COVID-19 cases confirmed on February 23

Six more COVID-19 cases were reported in the past 12 hours to 6pm February 23 with five in Hai Duong and one in Quang Ninh, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Hanoi (VNA) – Six more COVID-19 cases were reportedin the past 12 hours to 6pm February 23 with five in Hai Duong and one in QuangNinh, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention andControl.

♓ The new cases brought the national tally to 2,401, including 809locally-transmitted cases since January 27.

A total of 1,717 patients have been given the all-clear, whilethe death toll remains at 35.

Among patients still under treatment, 69 have tested negativefor SARS-CoV-2, 39 negative twice and 55 thrice.

🐟 More than 107,680 people who had close contact with COVID-19patients or arrived from pandemic-hit areas are being quarantined across thecountry./.

🔯 Sharp tobacco tax hike urged to safeguard youths, community health

A 2023 report by the Vietnam Health Economics Association estimated that the total cost of tobacco-related healthcare and economic losses reached 108 trillion VND (4.14 billion USD) annually – equivalent to 1.14% of GDP and five times higher than the budget revenue generated by the tobacco industry.

♊ Vietnam, France collaborate in vaccine production technology transfer

Under the agreement, VNVC and Sanofi will gradually implement technology transfers to enable domestic production of several key Sanofi vaccines that are widely used in Vietnam. In addition, Sanofi will support VNVC in training human resources and quality management in vaccine research and manufacturing.
