A series of photo exhibitions is underway in Ho Chi Minh City in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025), as well as the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – 2025).
The exhibition in HCM City features 140 artefacts, photographs, and archival documents vividly capturing Vietnam’s resilient path from the signing of the Paris Peace Accords in 1973 to the historic triumph that brought an end to decades of war and led to the reunification of the nation in 1975.
In Chile, people were still living under the oppression of the military dictatorship, and the mainstream media provided very little coverage of the situation in Vietnam. However, news of the April 30 victory quickly spread from person to person, and the joy overwhelmed across the country, according to Patricia Abarzúa Muñoz, President of the Chile-Vietnam Friendship Association.
The Vietnam Television (VTV) staged a live programme entitled “Paris Agreement – Aspirations for peace” on January 17 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Paris Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam (Paris Peace Accords) (January 27, 1973-2023).
