State Audit urged to fight harder against corruption, waste

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has asked the State Audit of Vietnam (SAV) to enhance its role in the duel struggles against corruption and waste.

At aconference launching the SAV’s tasks for 2014 in Hanoi on January 22,she told the SAV to improve the auditing of economic restructuring,public investment and Government bond-funded projects.

Ngan suggested the SAV intensify auditing State-run groups,corporations and commercial banks, urging it to make draft amendments tothe State Audit Law for submission to the National Assembly.

She also ordered the organisation to closely follow supervisingactivities by the parliament and the Government’s administration, addingthat the SAV should renovate its operation and shorten auditing time.

At the conference, Deputy State Auditor General LeMinh Khai reported that through audits in 2013, the SAV recommendeddealing with financial violations totalling over 16 trillion VND (761.9million VND) and proposed investigations into 21 individuals andcollectives.

It also handed over five casesshowing signs of violation to investigation agencies, and provided 13files for police and authorised agencies for probing.

In 2014, the organisation plans to carry out 186 audits and specifythe responsibility of each managerial agency involved in corruption andwaste cases.-VNA
