State budget revenue from exports and imports in the first quarter of this year reached 88.35 trillion VND (3.53 billion USD), equivalent to 26.3% of the estimate, and down 4.2% year-on-year, the General Department of Vietnam Customs reported on April 3.

Hanoi (VNA) – State budget revenue fromexports and imports in the first quarter of this year reached 88.35 trillionVND (3.53 billion USD), equivalent to 26.3% of the estimate, and down 4.2%year-on-year, the General Department of Vietnam Customs reported on April 3.

Three-month exports fetched 93.06billion USD, a rise of 17% compared to the same period last year, and imports, 84.98billion USD, up 13.9 %, resulting in a trade surplus of about 8.08 billion USD.

The agency was assigned by the National Assembly tocollect 375 trillion VND for the State coffer this year, with 204 trillion VNDexpected to come from exports and imports.

The agency said it will continue with the reform ofcustoms policies and procedures, ensure state management and prevent tradefraud, while creating a full legal foundation for the building andimplementation of a digital and smart customs model, thus facilitating tradeand contributing to meeting growth targets.

Smuggling, trade fraud, and drug trafficking tookplace complicatedly in the quarter, it said, noting that customs forces detectedand handled 3,483 cases with a total value of about 5.81 trillion VND./.
