State President meets HCM City voters

President Tran Dai Quang on April 26 met with voters in Ho Chi Minh City’s Districts 1, 3 and 4 to listen to their opinions, mostly in issues on the environment, the settlement of complaints related to land use, solutions to traffic congestion, and education quality improvement.

HCM City (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang on April26 met with voters in Ho Chi Minh City’s Districts 1, 3 and 4 to listen totheir opinions, mostly in issues on the environment, the settlement ofcomplaints related to land use, solutions to traffic congestion, and educationquality improvement.

The voters also voiced their concerns in streamlining publicservants and administrative system, improving quality of question-and-answerssessions of the National Assembly and, expanding the forms of voter meeting, aswell as matters related to some draft laws and the abuse of beliefs forsuperstitious practices.

President Tran Dai Quang applauded the voters’ opinions on thediversification of forms of meeting voters, highlighting that deputies mustregularly maintain a close connectivity with voters to fully absorb theiropinions and aspirations, thus reporting to authorised agencies.

Regarding the urgent matters in protecting the environment, thePresident affirmed Vietnam’s stance of not exchanging the environment at anycost, adding that the country will carefully evaluate environmental impacts ofall projects to ensure rapid and sustainable growth.

Recently, the Government has halted a number of projectswith ambiguous environmental impact assessment, he noted.

On the settlement of complaints related to land use, thePresident said that the Party, State and localities have paid great attentionto the matter.

On the recent incident in Dong Tam commune, My Duc districtof Hanoi, the Party Central Committee has directed Hanoi leaders tocomprehensively withdraw lessons to prevent similar cases.

At the same time, authorised agencies must listen topeople’s opinions, while giving explanations to locals on policies,orientations and decisions of the State and localities, thus ensuringdisciplines and expanding democracy through constructive dialogues to reachhigh consensus, he stated.

He also noted down voters’ feedback on a number of draftlaws such as the revised Law on Corruption Prevention and Control, a guiding decreeon the Land Law and Law on Denunciation (revised).-VNA
