Supermarkets keep stable prices for Tet

Many trade centres and supermarkets started opening their door right on February 5, the first day of the traditional lunar New Year (Tet), with prices kept at the same level before the longest and most important festival in Vietnam, according to market watchers.

– Many trade centres andsupermarkets started opening their door right on February 5, the first day ofthe traditional lunar New Year (Tet), with prices kept at the same level beforethe longest and most important festival in Vietnam, according to marketwatchers.

They cited Lotte Mart, Hapro Mart and Aeon as cases inpoint, also noting that various chains of convenient stores like Circle K,Family Mart, B’s mart, and Shop&Go kept their door open through thefestival.

Experts of the domestic market department of the Ministry ofIndustry and Trade forecast that more supermarkets will resume their operationon February 6. Besides, traders at a number of major markets will also startselling vegetables and seafood the same day.

As a result, the supply and prices of daily necessities arekept stable for the special occasion which often sees problems as demands oftenskyrocket when consumers rush to buy them.

The supply of electricity to the national grid has also beenensured, with no major incidents reported.-VNA
