Sydney (VNA) – The Vietnam – Australia Investment Forum held in Sydney on May 9 brought together 100 enterprises from the two countries seeking new pathways for bilateral trade and investment.
At the event event, jointly organised by the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney and Vietnam's Trade Office in the country, Vietnamese Consul General Nguyen Thanh Tung highlighted the two nation’s shared spirit of innovation and dynamism, and aspirations for sustainable development, while speaking of the remarkable progress in the bilateral ties over the recent past.
Its enterprises, with creativity and adaptability, stand ready to bring high-quality products to the Australian market while Australian businesses could provide advanced technology, sustainable agriculture, and corporate governance to develop supply chains, expand markets, and develop strategic investment projects, he continued.
Tung called on companies from both sides to strengthen connectivity, share information, and build trust, as well as accelerate specific cooperation projects in the areas of strength, such as digital transformation, green energy, and sustainable infrastructure development.
The Vietnamese Government’s agencies will continue creating favourable conditions for businesses, he said, expressing confidence that Vietnamese and Australian firms will write new success stories, contributing to the excellent relationship between the two countries and prosperity in the region and the world.
During the event, Vietnamese businesses introduced their strengths and capabilities, and explored cooperation opportunities with Australian partners. Meanwhile, the Australian side expressed their interest in introducing advanced mining technologies to the country, bringing Vietnam’s high-quality building materials to the Australian market, and cooperating with Vietnamese partners to convert waste into fertiliser for agriculture and coal for steel production.
President of Macquarie Park Ryde Business Chamber Tony Abboud told the Vietnam News Agency that Australian businesses are keen on Vietnam's technology, innovation, and goods, especially electronics and building materials. He praised Vietnamese products for meeting Australia’s rigorous quality standards./.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Minister of National Defence suggested Vietnam and Australia continue to effectively implement their agreed cooperation agenda, with a focus on increasing delegation exchanges and dialogue mechanisms, expanding training, especially in English language and military specialties for Vietnamese personnel and strengthening peacekeeping collaboration.
