Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – Domestic airlines planto increase the frequency of flights by 8-10 percent during the upcoming Tet (LunarNew Year) holiday from January 20 to February 19 compared to the same periodlast year, according to a representative from the Ho Chi Minh City-based TanSon Nhat International Airport.
Accordingly, up to 806-820 flights per day have been plannedfor the upcoming holidays, up 70 flights from last year’s period. There will be900 flights departing from and landing in Tan Son Nhat airport on February 2and about 890 flights on February 10.
From November 25 to February 15, national flag carrierVietnam Airlines will add an extra 1,956 flights with around 560,000 domesticpassengers to its schedules. Budget airline Vietjet will also run an additional1,000 flights, up 20 percent from off-peak season, while Jetstar will launch another1,014 flights.
In order to meet passengers’ demand during Tet, the airportwill lengthen conveyor belts and add another 10 check-in counters for thedomestic terminal.
From January 15-February 15, several outlets will be shutdown to better serve passengers.
The airport will also temporarily cancel the repair andmaintenance of terminal equipment 15 days before and 10 days after Tet.
From January 26 to February 12, youth unions of Tan Son Nhatinternational airport and Vietnam Aviation Academy will voluntarily guidepassengers with procedures and luggage during peak times.
Calligraphy paintings will also be presented to passengers takingdomestic flights during 9-11am and 2-4pm every day. –VNA
