Tet gifts bring warmth to border, remote residents
As the Lunar New Year 2025 is approaching, various initiatives across Vietnam have delivered support to underprivileged families, fostering the festive spirit of solidarity and care.

Hanoi (VNA) - As the Lunar New Year 2025 is approaching, various initiatives across Vietnam have delivered support to underprivileged families, fostering the festive spirit of solidarity and care.
In the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong, a programme was commenced in Thuan Hanh commune, Dak Song district, on January 5, during which border guards and local authorities organised cultural performances and distributed 250 gift packages to disadvantaged families and students.
Besides, three houses worth 50 million VND (nearly 2,000 USD) each were presented to families in need. Activities such as free health check-ups and a banh chung (square glutinous rice cake)-making contest further enriched the event.
In the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang, the Thien Tam (Kind Heart) Foundation of Vingroup partnered with the local Red Cross to provide 1,500 Tet gift packages valued at 900 million VND to low-income families. This initiative aligns with the province’s “compassionate Tet” movement, aiming to ensure no household is left without support during the holiday season.
Under the Giving Tet gifts - Connecting love programme in the central province of Quang Nam, up to 1,300 Tet packages were handed over to poor families in Bac Tra My and Phu Ninh districts, and Tam Ky city. Free health screenings also benefited 800 residents, while 1,000 children received cardiac examinations, with critical cases referred for free treatment.
On this occasion, the central representative office of Radio The Voice of Vietnam and the Tam Ky compatriots association in Ho Chi Minh City along with representatives of the Military Region 5 Command presented five houses and Tet gifts to disadvantaged families in Tam Ky city./.
As the Lunar New Year Festival (Tet) is approaching, National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man on January 4 visited and handed over gifts to armed forces, families of revolutionary contributors, poor residents, and those affected by typhoon Yagi in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai.
The High Command of Naval Region 4 hosted a ceremony at Cam Ranh military port in the south central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on December 26 to bid farewell to a working delegation and naval vessels who will visit Truong Sa (Spratly) island district.

In recent decades, Vietnam’s mainstream media has become a reliable and persuasive channel for showcasing the nation’s development policies and achievements, especially in economic matters, according to a senior assistant editor at the Times of India.
A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.
