Thaco bus manufacturing plant inaugurated

Quang Nam (VNA) – The Truong Hai AutoCorporation (Thaco) inaugurated a bus manufacturing plant at Chu Lai – TruongHai complex in the central province of Quang Nam on December 8.

With the construction beginning in September 2016, thefacility had investment of 7 trillion VND (308 million USD). Spanning 17hectares, it is capable of producing 20,000 cars on an annual basis. Eightypercent of the plant’s equipment was designed and made in Vietnam by Thacoengineers, while Thaco buses have about 50 percent of their parts manufactureddomestically.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime MinisterTrinh Dinh Dung stressed Thaco buses with high localisation proportion are inline with the national development strategy for auto development toward 2025.

Dung requested the company improve infrastructure andworkforce capacity to reduce prices of products.

He said the Government is committed to creating betterpolicy serving the demand of auto firms during their implementation of thenational strategy for the sector.

On the occasion, Thaco signed contracts to export 1,150 carsto Thailand, Taiwan (China), the Philippines, and Cambodia.-VNA
