Singapore (VNA) – A conference was held in Singapore on June 19 to call forinvestment to priority projects in Vietnam’s northern province of Thai Binh.

Theprojects cover infrastructure and industrial production; transport, especiallyseaports and transport networks in economic parks; services, restaurants,hotels and luxurious resorts; urban infrastructure; and high-tech agriculture.

DangTrong Thang, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’sCommittee of Thai Binh province, said the Prime Minister has agreed toestablish the Thai Binh economic zone.

Callingon Singaporean businesses to invest in Thai Binh, he said the province paysspecial attention to attracting strategic investors and will create the bestpossible conditions for them to operate in the locality for a long term.

Investorsat the conference showed their interest in such areas as petro-chemistry andhigh-tech agriculture, and raised feasible proposals.

AhmadMagad, General Secretary of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF), saidThai Binh has substantial potential to attract investors and many Singaporeanbusinesses have considered investing in the locality which is offering taxincentives at local economic parks.

Withinthe framework of the conference, Thai Binh and the SMF signed a memorandum ofunderstanding to promote cooperation opportunities in the time ahead.

Theconference was jointly held by Thai Binh province, the Vietnamese Embassy inSingapore and the SMF.

TheSMF gathers 3,000 businesses that make up 20 percent of Singapore’s grossdomestic product (GDP) and is an important partner of firms in Thai Binh andVietnam in general.-VNA
