Thailand names road Thau Chin – alias of Ho Chi Minh
A road in the Thai province of Udon Thani has been named Thau Chin – the name that Vietnam’s President Ho Chi Minh used when he lived in Thailand 89 years ago.

Bangkok (VNA) – A road in the Thai province ofUdon Thani has been named Thau Chin – the name that Vietnam’s President Ho ChiMinh used when he lived in Thailand 89 years ago.
The road links Provincial Road 2263 and a memorialsite dedicated to Ho Chi Minh in Chiang Phin commune of Mueang district.
A ceremony to inaugurate the road with the newname was held in Mueang district on February 4.
At the event, Vietnam’s Deputy Foreign MinisterVu Hong Nam said during the time Ho Chi Minh stayed in Thailand, he laid a firmfoundation for the long-term friendship between Vietnam and Thailand.
The naming of the road after the alias of thePresident is a demonstration of the two countries’ resolve to reinforcebilateral relations, he noted.
Meanwhile, Udon Thani Deputy Governor SuchaiButsara said his province has become part of Vietnam’s struggle for nationalliberation, adding that the Ho Chi Minh commemorative site will forever be asymbol of the amity and close bonds between the two nations.
Ho Chi Minh lived in Thailand for nearly 18months, from early July 1928 to late 1929. During the six months he stayed inUdon Thani, under the name of Thau Chin, he opened a school teaching Vietnameseand translated some books to prepare for the fight against France to gainnational independence for Vietnam.-VNA
