Tho Xuan Airport plans to serve 5 million passengers per year
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAA) is planning to increase the capacity of Tho Xuan Airport in the central province of Thanh Hoa to 5 million passengers by 2030.
Hanoi (VNA) - The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) is planning toincrease the capacity of Tho Xuan Airport in the central province of Thanh Hoa to5 million passengers by 2030.
TheCAAV has submitted a detailed planning scheme for the development of theairport by 2030 with a vision toward 2050 that includes the plan to theMinistry of Transport for approval.
TheCAAV said the airport’s capacity has grown significantly in recent years,leaving behind its previous growth predictions. However, the last plan set forTho Xuan was approved in 2013 and modified in 2014.
Accordingto the newly submitted document, by 2030, Tho Xuan will be an internationalairport while its passenger and goods capacity will be respectively raised to5 million and 25,000 tonnes per year.
The ThoXuan Airport served 90.929 passengers in 2013 whenit received its first flight. The number soared to 1 million in 2019.
Formerlyknown as Sao Vang Airport, the airport is located in Sao Vang town, Tho Xuandistrict, 45 kilometres from Thanh Hoa city. It plays an important role inaviation transportation and national overflight protection./.
