Tra Vinh (VNA) – Thesouthern province of Tra Vinh granted licenses to eight projects in April,including seven domestic ones worth more than 327 billion VND (14.2 millionUSD) and one foreign-invested worth 3 million USD, according to the provincialauthorities.
Since early this year, theprovince has lured 15 domestic projects with a total registered capital ofnearly 581 billion VND (25.26 million USD) and three foreign-invested onesworth 5.64 million USD, up 518 billion VND (22.5 million USD) and 4.64 millionUSD year-on-year.
Tran Anh Dung, Vice Chairman ofthe provincial People’s Committee, described key national projects in theprovince as one of the favourable conditions for local investment attraction,including Luong work for the travel of large capacity vessels on the Hau River andCo Chien bridge that facilitate the marine-based economy and goodstransportation by road.
The Duyen Hai power centre withfour power plants is capable of generating nearly 4,500 MW of electricity tomajor industrial projects, meeting power demand in the region.
With a lengthy coastline andextensive fishing grounds, Tra Vinh is well-positioned to develop wind andsolar power; cruise, ecological, spiritual and resort tourism, he said.
Tra Vinh currently records 181projects, including 35 foreign-invested ones worth about 3 billion USD and 146domestic ones with a total registered capital of more than 98 trillion VND(4.26 billion USD).
It is home to 1,900 businessesand 1,001 affiliates with a total registered capital of some 25 trillion VND (1.08billion USD) and creates jobs to in excess of 85,000 workers in and outside theprovince.-VNA
