Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Chile on August 31 offeredflowers at President Ho Chi Minh Statue at the park named after him in CerroNavia commune of Santiago capital on the occasion of Vietnam’s 76th National Day (September 2).
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Truong Giangthanked the people of Chile in general and Cerro Navia inparticular for their warm feelings for President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnam during the past years,affirming that the embassy will continue coordinating with Chilean authoritiesand people to preserve and nurture the traditional friendship between the twocountries.
For his part, Cerro Navia Governor Mauro Tamayo expressedrespect and admiration of Chileans to President Ho Chi Minh, as well as their affectionfor Vietnam. He stressed that Cerro Navia people appreciate the Vietnamese side’sattention to and support for the park’s renovation.
In 1969, to show solidarity and support for the Vietnamesepeople's resistance war for national independence and respect for PresidentHo Chi Minh, a small park in Cerro Navia District was renamed Park Ho Chi Minh.Since then, the park has become a symbol of the traditional friendship betweenthe two countries.
Also on August 31, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Russia’sVladivostok city laid flowers at the monument of President Ho Chi Minh in the HoChi Minh flower garden in the city.
On the same day, the Consulate General organised a ceremonyto mark Vietnam’s National Day.
On September 2, 1945 at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, PresidentHo Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, declaring to the world thefoundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic ofVietnam.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on August 28 offered incense and flowers in tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and the country's National Day (September 2), and the 52nd year of the implementation of President Ho Chi Minh's Testament.
