US raises anti-dumping tariffs on Vietnamese tra fish
The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced its final decision of the DOC’s 14th Period of Review on anti-dumping tariffs on Vietnam’s tra fish batches imported into the country during the period from August 1, 2016 to July 31, 2017.

Under the decision, the anti-dumping tariffs are much higherthan the preliminary rates it announced last September, according to theVietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Specifically, the official tariff on Hung VuongGroup’s products is 3.87 USD per kg, compared to the preliminary level of zeroUSD per kg. That on NTSF Seafood is kept at 1.37 USD per kg. Four other trafish exporters, namely C.P Vietnam, CL-Fish, Green Farms Seafood and Vinh QuangCorp, are imposed the tariff of 1.37 USD per kg, up 0.96 cent per kg.
Meanwhile, the general tariff on products of otherVietnamese exporters is maintained at 2.39 USD per kg.
VASEP said in the first three months of 2019,the country shipped 71.16 million USD worth of tra fish to the US, down 5percent year on year.
The tra fish export to the US market is forecastto continue declining in the second quarter under the impact of the officialanti-dumping tariffs.-VNA
Tra fish breeds producers in the Mekong Delta have been urged to closely work with research institutes, universities and scientists to apply advanced farming techniques to produce high quality breeds.
Tra fish exports were worth a record high of 2.2 billion USD in 2018, 26.4 percent higher than in 2017 and representing a breakthrough for Vietnam’s catfish industry.
