US servicemen’s remains return home

A repatriation ceremony of remains of US servicemen who died during the war in Vietnam was held at the Da Nang International Airport in Da Nang city on September 7.
A repatriation ceremony of remains of US servicemen who died during thewar in Vietnam was held at the Da Nang International Airport inDa Nang city on September 7.

It was attended byrepresentatives from the Vietnam Office for Seeking Missing Personneland the US Ambassador to Vietnam David B. Shear.

Two boxes of remains which were recovered during the 108 th JointField Activities from August to September were handed over to the USside.

Those remains have been jointly reviewed andconcluded by Vietnamese and US forensic specialists that might beassociated with the US servicemen missing during the war in Vietnamand recommended to bring to Hawaii for future review.

Addressing the ceremony, the US Government representative expresseddeep gratitude and high appreciation for the steadfast humanitarianpolicy, good-will and the increasingly efficient cooperation of theVietnamese Government and people.

The seeking of theremains of the US servicemen missing during the war in Vietnam ishumanitarian cooperation between the Vietnamese Government and the USGovernment.

This is the 124 th hand-over of American missing sevicemen’s remains since 1973.-VNA
