VECO keeps close watch on settlement of Vietnamese death in Chinese Taiwan

VN's Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei is still keeping a close watch and coordinating with local agencies during the investigation into and settlement of the death of a Vietnamese citizen there.
Hanoi (VNA) - TheVietnam Economic and Cultural Office (VECO) in Taipei is stillkeeping a close watch and coordinating with local agencies during theinvestigation into and settlement of the death of a Vietnamese citizen inChinese Taiwan, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said.

She made the remark onSeptember 7 while responding to reporters’ question about the death of NguyenQuoc Phi in Taiwan.

She cited the VECO as saying thatPhi’s family had come to Taiwan and the Taipei-based office had coordinatedwith local authorised agencies to assist the family to carry out relevantprocedures.

The VECO worked directly withlocal agencies and asked them to promptly investigate the incident, Hang noted,adding that it will continue activities to protect the rights and legitimateinterests of the deceased.

[A Vietnamese citizen confirmed dead in Taiwan]

On August 31, the VECO had receivedofficial information about the death of Phi from competent agencies of Taiwan. Itimmediately requested the Taiwanese side to inquire into the case andcoordinate with Vietnam in the incident settlement.

At the regular press conference,Spokesperson Hang also informed the media about some external activities ofVietnam in the time ahead.-VNA
