Vietcombank rated Vietnam’s best bank

Vietcombank has been awarded the title of 2009 Best Vietnamese Bank for a series of its trade finance activities by the AsiaMoney magazine.
The Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam(Vietcombank) has been awarded the title of 2009 Best Vietnamese Bankfor a series of its trade finance activities by the AsiaMoney magazine.

This is the third consecutive year, Vietcombank has made it to the top at the AsiaMoney magazine’s selection.

Vietcombank said that it is the only Vietnamese bank to win six prizesfrom AsiaMoney this year. The award presentation ceremony is expectedto be held in Hong Kong on September 24.

Vietcombank was awarded the prizes for the best provider of foreigncurrency services, the best trader on foreign currencies in the2006-2008 period, and the best cash management.

Besides, Vietcombank was also ranked as the best bank for its creativeideas in foreign currency services, the best intermediator in the tradeof foreign currencies and the bank owning the best online tradingbackground.

The prizes were based on 15 operational activities of banks worldwideand assessed by 350 financial organisations and 1,200 companies in theAsian region.

As one of the largest and the most prestigious banks in Vietnam,Vietcombank now occupies a large market share, holding 10 percent ofloans, 12 percent of deposits, 23 percent of international payments and55 percent of card payments.

In the first six months of this year, the bank’s pre-tax profits areestimated to have reached 2.45 trillion USD, the largest amongst jointstock banks.

Last year, Vietcombank was selected as the best Vietnamesedomestic bank, best foreign exchange service provider and best tradepayments service provider by the AsiaMoney and the Trade Financemagazines./.
