VietJet Air doubles revenue in the first 6 months

The VietJet Aviation Joint Stock Company (VietJet Air) earned 5.7 trillion VND (256.5 million USD) in revenue during the first half this year, up 205 percent from the same period last year. The figures were released by the low-cost carrier at a conference reviewing its six-month operations on August 16 in Ho Chi Minh City.
During the reviewed period, the airline transported more than four million passengers, significantly contributing to the record 26 percent increase in domestic aviation transportation compared with the same period last year. The carrier is currently operating a fleet of 26 Airbus A320 and A321 jets on 33 domestic and international routes to Thailand, Cambodia, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and China. Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Nhat hailed VietJet’s impressive performance as a critical boost to the development of the sector as well as the economy, adding that the carrier’s promotional programmes have helped facilitate people’s air travel.
He also urged VietJet to focus on flight safety and human resource training in a bid to increase the rate of local workers in the company. VietJet Executive Director Luu Duc Khanh said VietJet has continuously expanded its investments in security to ensure safe and convenient travel for its passengers. On the occasion, VietJet was also awarded with the International Aviation Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certificate, representing the carrier’s highest commitment to service quality in line with strict safety standards set by the IATA.-VNA
