Vietjet signs multi-billion USD deals during PM’s official trip to US

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company signed with CFMInternational, a joint venture of General Electric (GE) and Safran Aircraft Engines,an agreement on May 31 on supporting 215 engines to power the airline’s fleet.
Theagreement was inked in the presence ofPrime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who is on an official visit to the US, and USSecretary of Commerce Wilbur L. Ross, Jr in Washington D.C.
The12-year-long agreement, valued at 3.6 billion USD, includes other technicalservices, engines and components maintenance.
Speakingat the signing ceremony, Vietjet’s President and CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thaosaid: “We are orienting our fleet to aircraft families and engines which are of efficientfuel consumption and environment friendly. The engines under today agreementwill help us to save up to 15 percent of fuel consumption as well as to obtain othercomprehensive services in technical support, maintenance and training.
“Thanksto this agreement, Vietjet’s fleet can enjoy new technical and technological advanceswhich enhance our flight quality and operation reliability and reduce costs,”she added.
Onthis occasion, Vietjet and GECAS under GE signed a Memorandum of Understanding onaircraft financing worth 1 billion USD. Accordingly, GECAS will support Vietjetto finance and/or purchase and enter into leasebackarrangement of 10 aircraft ordered by Vietjet.
Vietjetand HoneywellAviation alsoinked an agreement onauxiliary power unit supply and technical maintenance to power the airline’s 98airplanes. The agreement, which is worth 180 million USD, is aimed to helpVietjet’s fleet be maintained under world leading standards.-VNA
