Hanoi (VNA) – National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has official put into operation the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner. The flight provided passengers with enjoyable experiences.

Passengers on board of the first commercial flight of the Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner that Vietnam Airlines put into service on August 20 had enjoyable experiences and were satisfied with the service quality, comfort and modernity of the industry’s most efficient twin-aisle aircraft.

🐼 At 14:00 on August 20, Mr. Tran Trung Hieu from Dong Da district of Hanoi was checking in at Vietnam Airlines counter at Noi Bai airport. Due to his job related to business, Mr. Hieu often travels between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Despite experiencing Vietnam Airlines' airplanes from Boeing 787-9, Airbus A350, A321 neo or even ATR72 aircraft, Hieu was still curious when being informed that he would be one of the first passengers on board of Vietnam's largest aircraft that has just joined the Vietnam Airlines fleet.

Setting foot on the plane, Hieu realised that the Boeing 787-10 is longer and wider than the Boeing 787-9, and the number of seats on the plane is also higher than the previous aircraft version to increase the number of passengers and reduce operating costs on the same route. The lighting system, air humidity and pressure bring comfort to passengers.

Many passengers were excited as they are first passengers on board the latest and most modern commercial aircraft in the world.

Next to Hieu, Ms. Nguyen Hoai Thuong from District 3 of Ho Chi Minh City was staring at the LED lighting system with various colours that were changed in the aircraft cabin as when passengers get on, the jet takes off and land in, and is flying, or during the meal serving period.

“The noise level of Boeing 787-10 is improved in comparison to other aircraft. The buzzing noise in the ears is significantly reduced, helping passengers feel comfortable. Instead of using plastic window covers, each window on the Boeing 787-10 is larger and uses a smart glass panel with anti-glare glass technology,” Thuong said.

According to Vietnam Airlines’ representative, the first commercial flight of the Boeing 787-10 coded VN249 on August 20 carried 367 passengers, or all seats of the airplane were filled. The airline expects to will start operating international flights between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea next month.

"Vietnam Airlines will receive a total of eight Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft from now to 2020 under an aircraft lease and purchase agreement, marking a new step of Vietnam Airlines in a modern wide-body aircraft fleet development strategy," the representative said.

With taking the delivery of the first Boeing 787-10 on August 16, Vietnam Airlines has become the fourth airline in Asia, the fifth in the world to receive Boeing 787-10 jet, and is one of five carriers in Asia operating both most modern Boeing 787-9 and 787-10 aircraft.

The new 787-10 will complement Vietnam Airlines’ existing fleet of 787-9 jets. Both feature the Dreamliner’s ultra-efficient technology and passenger-pleasing comforts.

The 787-10 is longer than the 787-9, providing the space to carry 15 percent more passengers and more cargo and helping it offer the lowest operating costs per seat of any twin-aisle jet in service today.

In addition, the new generation aircraft is environmentally friendly thanks to the integration of advanced technology that helps reduce 25 percent of fuel per seat compared to previous generation aircraft. The new aircraft has an optimal operating cost per seat, helping create a competitive advantage for Vietnam Airlines.

This super aircraft is the youngest member of Vietnam Airlines' new generation wide-body aircraft fleet, helping the firm better meet the constantly increasing travel demand on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route, and key international ones, said Vietnam Airlines’ representative.

Vietnam Airlines are operating over 95 air routes to 22 domestic destinations and 29 international destinations with a total of 400 flights per day.

💎 The airline owns a young and modern fleet, and is the first in the world to simultaneously operate both new generation aircraft including Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350. Vietnam Airlines is also the first member of the Skyteam airline alliance in Southeast Asia. In 2019, Vietnam Airlines was certified with a 4-star airline rating by prestigious international air transport rating organisation Skytrax for the fourth consecutive year./.
