Vietnam Airlines, Sabre expand partnership

Sydney (VNA) – Vietnam Airlines andUS-based Sabre Corporation, a leading technology provider in the global travelindustry, have signed an agreement to expand their cooperation.

The carrier will broaden the scope ofSabreSonic, Sabre's passenger service system (PSS) that Vietnam Airlines uses,to improve its performance.

Chairman of the Board of Directors ofVietnam Airlines Pham Ngoc Minh said the deal will allow the carrier to makeuse of Sabre’s technology to boost its sale and distribution capabilities.

Sabre has become an important partner ofVietnam Airlines and contributed to fulfilling its passengers’ demand via supplyingthe latest technologies, he noted.

Sabre’s solutions will increase VietnamAirlines’ competitive advantage in the Asia Pacific market, said Dave Shirk,president, Sabre Airline Solutions.

"With our customer-centric retailing,distribution and fulfillment capabilities, Sabre will continue to bringsignificant value to Vietnam Airlines as they strive to become one of theregion's largest carriers," he added.

Apart from the PSS, Sabre said it iscommitted to helping Vietnam Airlines meet distribution standards set by theInternational Air Transport Association.

This announcement came shortly after Sabreand Vietnam Airlines renewed a long-term content distribution agreement throughthe Sabre global distribution system, further strengthening the partnershipbetween the two corporations.

Vietnam Airlines, a member of SkyTeamalliance, operates 90 routes to 20 domestic and 29 international destinationswith an average of 400 flights per day.-VNA
