Vietnam Airlines to build hangar for plane maintenance

The Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation (Lilama) and Vietnam Airlines signed, on August 17, a 21.12 million USD contract to build a hangar to repair and maintain planes.
The Vietnam Machinery ErectionCorporation (Lilama) and Vietnam Airlines signed, on August 17, a 21.12million USD contract to build a hangar to repair and maintain planes.

According to the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC)contract, the hangar will be designed by Lilama, who are responsiblefor purchasing materials for the installation and construction of thehangar.

Lilama will also provide training courses on how to operate the hangarand put it through a trial run before it is handed over to VietnamAirlines. Delivery is slated for 12 months from the signing of thecontract.

The hangar will be built on an area of 13,800 sq. metres and it isexpected to meet standards of the US’s Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) of the EuropeanUnion, who allow the project’s owner, Vietnam Airlines, to providetechnical maintenance for Boeing and Airbus aircrafts.

Once the construction is completed, the hangar will be able toaccommodate three planes simultaneously for parts maintenance and turnthem over within four hours./.
