–The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on November 17 held a ceremony atthe Noi Bai International Airport on the outskirts of Hanoi to welcome thefirst of its 20 A321neo planes.

The deployment of theplanes, to be fully delivered by the end of the next year, is part of theairline’s strategy to upgrade its fleet following its recent reception of themost modern types of Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A350-900.

Vietnam Airlines CEO DuongTri Thanh said the reception of the A321neo plane marks an important milestonein the company’s unceasing development and service improvement. He expressedhis belief that the A322neo planes will further boost the business of thecarrier, especially in domestic routes and those in Asia.

For his part, Airbus globaltrade director Christian Scherer said that with its ability to save 15 percentof fuel, this type of plane will surely bring competitive advantages to VietnamAirlines over others.

With the inclusion of theA321neo plane, Vietnam Airlines has become the first carrier in Vietnam toapply new technology of the world with the equipment of the wireless streamingsystem.

Currently, the national flagcarrier boasts a fleet of Airbus planes with 58 A321ceo, three A330 and 12A350-900. Its planes of all types will total 110 by 2020.-VNA
