Vietnam, Argentina to ink cooperation deal to augment parliamentary ties
The National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam and the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina are set to sign a cooperation agreement during NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s official visit to the Latin American nation, aiming to intensify parliamentary relations and the countries’ comprehensive partnership at large, said head of the NA’s Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha.

Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam and the Chamber ofDeputies of Argentina are set to sign a cooperation agreement during NAChairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s official visit to the Latin American nation, aimingto intensify parliamentary relations and the countries’ comprehensivepartnership at large, said head of the NA’s Committee for External Relations VuHai Ha.
ChairmanHue and a high-ranking NA delegation of the NA arrived at Ministro PistariniInternational Airport in Buenos Aires on April 23 afternoon (local time),beginning an official visit to Argentina at the invitation of President of theChamber of Deputies Cecilia Moreau.
Thetrip, held amid the 50th founding anniversary of the countries’diplomatic ties (October 25, 1973 - 2023), aims to intensify the traditionalfriendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Argentina, as well as other LatinAmerican nations. It looks to affirm that Argentina is one of the leadingpartners of Vietnam in Latin America and to promote the possibility of launchingnegotiations on a free trade agreement between the Southeast Asian country andthe Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR).
Duringprevious discussions and meetings, leaders of both countries expressed theirwish to further bolster bilateral cooperation.
TheVietnamese side underscored that it attaches importance to its long-standingfriendship and comprehensive partnership with Argentina, highlighting the hopeto develop the partnership for the sake of the two peoples and for peace,stability, and development in their respective regions and the world at large.
Meanwhile,Argentina also highly valued Vietnam’s growing role and stature in the regionaland international arenas, voicing its willingness to lift the comprehensivepartnership to a new level.
Overthe past years, relations between the two legislative bodies have also beenflourishing as seen in mutual visits and meetings at multilateral parliamentaryforums.
Onthe basis of the traditional friendship, Chairman Hue’s visit is expected toelevate and further enhance parliamentary cooperation.
Talkingto the press prior to the visit, head of the NA’s Committee for ExternalRelations Vu Hai Ha noted the two sides will discuss measures for promoting thecomprehensive partnership, especially in the fields Argentina is strong at suchas agriculture, the industry serving agricultural production, renewable energy,and the material industry.
Theywill sign a cooperation deal to strengthen ties between the two parliaments,thus contributing to the comprehensive partnership, he said.
Hawent on to say that the NA Chairman will also deliver a policy speech at theArgentinan Foreign Ministry. The speech will provide information aboutVietnam’s foreign policy and the policy towards Latin America in general andArgentina in particular.
ArgentinianAmbassador to Vietnam Luis Pablo Maria Beltramino told the press that hiscountry has high expectations on the visit and considers this as a milestone inthe reinforcement of bilateral diplomatic links./.

Argentina was one of the three Latin American countries to establish diplomatic ties with Vietnam in 1973. Over the past five decades, the bilateral friendship and cooperation have been continuously strengthened and fruitfully developed.
Known as the “four pillars for Vietnam’s ascend”, the Pobiburo's Resolutions 57, 59, 66, and 68 focus on cultivating a robust national entrepreneurial spirit, unlocking resources for innovation across society, and accelerating the development of digital economy, knowledge-based economy, green economy, and circular economy, propelling Vietnam forward rapidly and firmly on the path of modernisation and international integration.
Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang cleared up deputies' concern regarding how to spur socio-economic growth, renew traditional growth motives and establish new momentum for development.

Highlighting the transformative potential of the draft law in revitalising Vietnam’s railway industry, Hoang Van Cuong, a deputy of Hanoi, expressed his support for Article 39, which empowers the Prime Minister to issue a list of railway-related goods and services to be assigned or ordered from domestic enterprises for production.
