Deputy Minister of MineralResources and the Environment Tran Hong Ha said Australia had experiencein managing and developing resources safely and ensuring environmentalprotection and community benefits.

Australian experts sharedtheir practical experience with sustainable development models inmining, their country's policies and regulations for environmentalmanagement and issues related to communities within mining areas.

ProfessorDavid Mulligan, an expert with 25 years of experience in developing andresearching resources, said the Australian Government's cooperationwith Vietnam aimed to build a sustainable mining strategy.

Cooperationwould focus on raising awareness of best practices in managing theimpacts of mineral exploitation on land and under water, he added.

Mulligansaid that in Australia, it was necessary to provide mining informationfor media agencies and pay attention to ensuring benefits for thecommunity, managing water and treating post-exploitation waste.-VNA
