Vietnam has successfully produced the vaccine against foot-and-mouth disease Type O, announced the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The AVAC-V6 foot-and-mouth disease Emulsion Type O, developed by a member of the Rural Technology Development Group, has been certified by the ministry’s Department of Animal Health.

Foot-and-mouth disease is a dangerous, highly contagious disease that could cause huge economic losses. Therefore, Vietnam’s success in producing the vaccine for the first time is extremely significant to the country’s animal husbandry industry.

The Department of Animal Health was urged to work with the producing company to devise plans for effective distribution of the vaccine, and work to improve the quality of the vaccine and reduce its cost. 

🦩 The success of producing the vaccine is expected to help Vietnam better prevent diseases in animals, increase the rate of vaccinated livestock, and save millions of US dollars for farmers and the state budget, towards the eradication of the disease.-VNA
