Vietnam is a central part of the 2.3-billion-CAD (1.7 billion USD) Indo-Pacific Strategy that Canada has been implementing, Canadian Associate Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Cindy Termorshuizen has said.

Ottawa (VNA) - Vietnam is a central part of the 2.3-billion-CAD(1.7 billion USD) Indo-Pacific Strategy that Canada has been implementing, Canadian Associate Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs CindyTermorshuizen has said.
This is part of Canada’s efforts to ensure that the countrywill be a dynamic and active partner in the region, especially for Vietnam, CindyTermorshuizen told a recent ceremony held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Ottawato mark Vietnam’s 78th National Day (September 2), and the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations.
She assessed that strong growth in economic cooperationbetween Canada and Vietnam is largely thanks to the Comprehensive andProgressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the twocountries must continue developing their relationship, opening up many opportunities in different fields.
At the event, Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Vinh Quang recalledthe country’s development achievements in the fields of politics, diplomacy andeconomy.
He affirmed that Vietnam remains one of the favouritedestinations for foreign investors and tourists.
Talking to Vietnam News Agency reporters in Ottawa, SenatorVictor Oh, Chairman of the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, said he was extremely impressed with Vietnam's vibrant development through theinformation provided by the Vietnamese Ambassador as well as what he witnessedduring his recent visit to Ho Chi Minh City.
