Vietnam, China boost trade through international fairs

The 17th Vietnam-China International Trade Fair kicked off in the north-western border province of Lao Cai on November 10 under the theme “Integration – Cooperation for mutual development”.

Lao Cai (VNA) –
The 17thVietnam-China International Trade Fair kicked off in the north-western borderprovince of Lao Cai on November 10 under the theme “Integration – Cooperationfor mutual development”.

The annual event is rotationally held byVietnam’s Lao Cai city and Hekou district of China’s Yunnan province as part ofthe national tourism year 2017.

It is expected to boost cooperation in tourismbetween Vietnamese and Chinese localities, including Lao Cai and Yunnanprovinces.

It looks to increase the bilateral trade via LaoCai international border gate and help businesses make inroads into the Yunnanmarket and create development momentum for China’s south-western provinces.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao QuocHung said the trade fair, which takes place on the occasion of the APECEconomic Leaders’ Week 2017, is an important event to strengthen Vietnam-Chinaeconomic, trade partnership and make active contributions to regional peace,cooperation, development and prosperity.

Gao Shu Xun, adviser to the Yunnan peoplegovernment, said the trade fair has become a highlight in the economic-tradecooperation between Lao Cai and Yunnan in particular and Vietnam and China ingeneral over the past few years.

The event creates a venue for participants toseek business and investment opportunities, he added.

This year’s fair features nearly 800 pavilionsoffering various kinds of products such as agro-forestry-aquatic products,medicines, machinery, automobile equipment, chemicals, construction material,electronics, households commodities, and handicrafts.
