Vietnam, China set up “golden” logistics corridor

Beijing (VNA) –
Vietnam and Chinaare strengthening railway cooperation, the Nanning Railway Bureau at theGuangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region affirmed on December 23.

The two countries are joining efforts to speedup the connection of freight trains between Vietnam to a third country via Chinaand vice versa on the China-Europe container train.

The bureau said at the 41st Vietnam-China borderrailway conference in mid-December, the normalisation of cross-border containertrains between Nanning and Hanoi was included in the new protocol.

On November 28, the China-Europe container traincarried goods from Nanning to Hanoi for the first time in about 20 hours. Lateron December 1, the train transported Vietnamese goods back to China’s Pingxiangborder railway station, thus paving the way for cargo transportation betweenthe two countries.

The Nanning Railway Bureau said within only 20days since its launch, the China-Europe container train has conducted four tripsfrom Hanoi to Pingxiang with a total volume of 1,880 tonnes, demonstrating thetwo countries’ efforts to set up a “golden” bilateral logistics corridor.

The Fangchenggang-Dongxing railway project was launched onDecember 18. Once completed, Guangxi province will have three border railwayroutes to the China-Vietnam border, facilitating connectivity between the twocountries.-VNA
