Vietnam climb up in FIFA women's world rankings

Vietnam’s women national football team leapt up two places from 30th to 28th in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola world rankings, which were announced on June 21.
Vietnam’s women national football team leapt up two places from 30th to28th in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola world rankings, which were announcedon June 21.

The team's progress was significantly attributedto their striking performance at the 2014 AFC Women’s Asian Cup Group CQualification in Bahrain in May in which they dominated with athree-game winning streak to get qualified for the knockout round hostedby Vietnam in 2014.

Gaining an extra 14 points compared to theprevious ranking, Vietnam pass Thailand to lead the Southeast Asianregion with 1,654 points and rank sixth in Asia behind Japan (world no.3), the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (world no. 9), Australia(world no. 10), the Republic of Korea (world no. 16) and China (worldno. 17).

The United States of America remain on top of theworld with 2,228 points, followed by Germany and Japan with 2,162 and2,096 points, respectively.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola women's world rankings will be released on August 2.-VNA
