Vietnam Customs, UK border force enhance cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) –
The General Department of Vietnam Customs and the UKBorder Force (UKBF) will further their collaboration under a Memorandum ofUnderstanding inked between the two sides in Hanoi on October 2.

Accordingly, they will work together in education and training, equipmentprovision, as well as exchange of expertise, experts and science and technologyin the field of customs.

The event is expected to help tighten the cooperative ties between Vietnam andthe UK in various sectors.

The Vietnamese customs and the UKBF are completing an agreement between the twogovernments on cooperation and administrative support in customs so as to carryout negotiations in the time ahead. Partners of the Vietnamese customs in theUK, including the UKBF and the HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), will join handsto negotiate this important agreement.

Vietnam and the UK have enjoyed robust relations over the past years. They havewitnessed sound developments in the bilateral cooperation in economy and trade,particularly after they inked the strategic partnership agreement in 2010.

Last year, two-way trade hit over 6.7 billion USD. In the first seven months of2019, Vietnam exported 3.26 billion USD worth of products to the Europeancountry, up 2.95 percent from the same time last year.

As the UK is the third largest trade partner of Vietnam in Europe, theVietnamese customs believe that cooperation in the field will make significantcontributions to the collaborative ties in economy, trade as well as many othersectors.

The Vietnamese customs, the UKBF, and the HMRC have worked tirelessly topromote the customs relations towards more practical cooperation that bringsefficiency to the customs management in each nation./.
