Speaking in replyto reporters’ questions about Vietnam’s position on the Chinese launchof a new tourism route from Sanya City in China’s Hainan province to theHoang Sa archipelago, the spokesman emphasised that the movecounteracts the Vietnam – China agreement on the basic principles guidingthe settlement of issues at sea and the Declaration on the Conduct ofParties in the East Sea (DOC), further complicating the situation in theEast Sea and the region.

He added that Vietnam hasindisputable sovereignty over the Hoang Sa archipelago, and the countrydemands China end such an unlawful act immediately.-VNA
