The Vaccine and Bio-product Company No. 1 has just produced a new type of cholera vaccine clinically confirmed to protect up to 90 percent of shot recipients against the disease.

Cholera vaccines currently in use have shown to be effective in just 60 percent of shot recipients, according to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thu Van, Director of the Vaccine and Bio-Product Company No. 1.

Using a new mixing formula based on the concentration of specific antigen, the new vaccine contains no residue toxin of cholera virus and thus ensures higher safety for shot recipients, said Dr. Van.

༺ The Vaccine and Bio-product Company No.1 is capable of producing 10 million doses of new cholera vaccine a year to meet demand for preventing cholera virus-caused acute diarrhoea, which is reportedly affecting 15 provinces and cities in Vietnam./.
