The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan held a ceremony to pay tribute to Tran Dai Quang, Politburo member and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on September 26.

Tokyo (VNA) – The VietnameseEmbassy in Japan held a ceremony to pay tribute to Tran Dai Quang, Politburomember and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on September 26.
At the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador toJapan Nguyen Quoc Cuong emphasised the contributions of the President, whodevoted his life to the national construction cause and was honoured withvarious orders.
He said embassy staffers have fond memoriesof the President and remember his words to them during his visit to Japan lastJune and his trips for medical treatment in the country over the past year.
Phan Dinh Trac, head of the Communist Partyof Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs, who is on aworking visit to Japan, attended the event. Writing in the book of condolences,he conveyed his grief toward the passing of an exemplary and dedicated leaderwith significant contributions to the building and protection of Vietnam. International friends and Japanese leaders attendedthe event to pay their respect.
The Japanese officials included Speaker ofthe House of Representatives Tadamori Oshima, Justice Minister Yoko Kamikawa,governor of Gunma Prefecture Masaaki Osawa, Chairman of Japan-ASEANInter-Parliamentary Exchange Group Hirofumi Nakasone, Grand Master ofCeremonies at the Imperial Palace Yoshitaka Akimoto, and leader of the NewKomeito Party Natsuo Yamaguchi.

Representatives from Japanese organisations andbusinesses, local residents and overseas Vietnamese also attended the ceremony.
President Tran Dai Quang passed away at10:05am on September 21 in Hanoi due to serious illness at the age of 62.
The State Funeral for the President began at 7am on September 26. The nation observes two-day national mourning on September26 -27.-VNA
