Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Industryand Trade and the EU Delegation to Vietnam held a ceremony to present theVietnam Energy Partnership Group (VEPG) in Hanoi on June 21.

The event drew the participation of more than100 representatives from State agencies, financial institutions,non-governmental organisations and Vietnam’s development partners.

Addressing the function, Minister of Industryand Trade Tran Tuan Anh stressed the importance of the energy group, addingthat it would establish a mechanism for deeper and wider cooperation.

It would also help Vietnam attract resources,boost effectiveness of high-level policy consultations, and implement energysecurity goals and sustainable growth commitments, he stated.

Bruno Angelet, Head of Delegation of theEuropean Union to Vietnam, affirmed the EU’s commitment to assisting Vietnam inbuilding a sustainable energy sector.

Later, Ambassador Angelet and Minister Tran TuanAnh inked a letter of intent on continuous collaboration for green energy inVietnam.

The occasion also saw the signing of a jointstatement on strengthening partnerships in developing renewable energy amongVietnam, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy,Luxembourg, Slovakia, Spain and the UK.

The pact reiterated strong support of the EU forVietnam to ensure affordable and sustainable access to energy for all people anddesign urgent measures to tackle climate change impacts.-VNA
