Vietnam eyes productivity to grow 7.5 percent annually by 2030

Vietnam expects annual growth of labour productivity to exceed 7.5 percent by 2030, according to a master plan on enhancing productivity based on science, technology and innovation for the 2021 – 2030 period recently issued by the Prime Minister.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam expects annual growthof labour productivity to exceed 7.5 percent by 2030, according to a masterplan on enhancing productivity based on science, technology and innovation forthe 2021 – 2030 period recently issued by the Prime Minister.

The purpose of the master plan is to make productivity akey driver of all sectors by the application of new scientific andtechnological achievements, advanced management systems and tools forproductivity improvements and human resources training and retraining in theera of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

It aims to help the country boost the annual labourproductivity growth to over 7.5 percent and to contribute about 50 percent ofthe economic growth.

About 30 – 35 cities and provinces alongside 5 – 7 groupsand corporation are expected to join the development and implementation of themaster plan.

Additionally, at least 500 small- and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) will devise and carry out key projects on productivity improvement,while at least 20 universities and vocational training centres will haveproductivity improvement clubs for students.

Under the master plan, ministries and local administrationswill improve legal framework to boost labour productivity based on science,technology and innovation; promote research, consultation and training anddevelop organisations supporting productivity improvement; accelerate the useof advanced management systems, models and tools to raise productivity inbusinesses; and increase awareness campaigns about this matter.

The plan also urges for the development of trainingprogrammes in productivity and career counselling at universities and othervocational training centres and the cooperation among providers of techsolutions which participate in major productivity improvement projects inspecific areas./.
